How
is data privacy ensured by
using SMS ConneXion over other
SMS applications on the Internet? |
When
bulk SMS’s are sent
through service providers
or other bulk SMS resellers,
companies have to part with
their client mobile numbers
and important contacts. SMS’s
have to be sent using the
Internet. However, in SMS
Connexion - Desktop Client, the Internet is
not required. Information
is collected from your local
data store and the transmissions
is controlled within the user's
premises, ensuring data privacy. |
|
| What
is the speed of sending messages? |
The
speed of sending SMS is practically
400 - 500 in an hour depending
on the network range where
the GSM Modem is located. |
|
| What
are the variants of SMS ConneXion? |
SMS

various flavours. There are
two editions available

|
| Which
data stores can SMS ConneXion
collate information from? |
Currently
SMS ConneXion can collate
information from Microsoft
Excel, Microsoft Access, Oracle and
Microsoft SQL. Every future
version will support one or
more additional data stores.
The forthcoming release will
connect to Tally and Foxpro
data stores. |
|
| How
does SMS ConneXion work? |
SMS
ConneXion is a Windows Desktop
application that runs on a
single computer / desktop.
The only hardware required
additionally is a GSM Modem
or a GSM Mobiel phone connected to the desktop.
This GSM Modem will have a
GSM SIM card within and will
facilitate the actual sending
and receiving of SMS. |
| |
| What
is a GSM Modem? |
A
GSM modem is a device which
uses GSM mobile network for
data transmission. It does
not use conventional telephone
line, but uses a SIM card
similar to the ones used in
a GSM mobile phone like Nokia,
Samsung, LG or others. A GSM
modem can be purchased from
the local or international
market. Some service providers
like Airtel provide GSM modem
at lucrative schemes if their
GSM card is used. SMS ConneXion
is thoroughly tested with
Nokia 30 and Nokia 32 Terminal
simulators which are GSM modems. |
|
| Do
I need to purchase any hardware
for SMS ConneXion? |
Yes,
you need to purchase a GSM
Modem / Mobile Phone. A computer
connected to a GSM Modem /
Mobile Phone having a SIM
Card facilitates the sending
and receiving of SMS. SMS
Connexion is thoroughly tested
over Nokia 30, Nokia 32 GSM
Modem.
Ideally any GSM device with
any one of the following modes
of connectivity: Data Cable,
Infrared or Bluetooth will
be detected by SMS ConneXion
and you may send / receive
SMS. But the with the innumerable
devices being released every
day, it is practically impossible
to guarantee that every device
is tested for SMS ConneXion
compatibility. However, in
the future we will put up
a list of GSM devices against
which SMS ConneXion has been
tested in our development
center. |
| |
| What
are the rates of the SMS when
sent out from SMS ConneXion? |
The
rate of each SMS is the rate
specified in the scheme for
the SIM card purchased by
you. e.g If you have opted
for a plan that sends out
SMS @ 50 paisa, then you will
be charged 50 paisa for each
SMS.
|
| |
| Can
I receive messages using SMS
ConneXion? |
Yes,
SMS ConneXion facilitates
two-way communication. You
can receive messages which
will be saved in your Inbox.
Moreover you can receive both
audio and visual alerts for
each incoming message. |
| |
| How
can I be sure that the recipient
has received the message? |
SMS
ConneXion facilitates delivery
reports. As soon as a delivery
report is received for a message
that has been sent, SMS ConneXion
will change the status of
the message from Sent to Delivered.
This is also indicated by
a change in icon to easily
identify messages that have
been delivered.
However,
you have to keep in mind that
the delivery reports are not
received immediately when
messages are sent in large
quantities. This is not a
limitation of SMS ConneXion,
but the mobile networks have
a low priority on the network
when transmitting delivery
reports. Many a time, the
message is delivered, but
the delivery report is never
received. |
| |
| How
do I know whether the SMS is
sent to the recipient? |
Every
SMS that is created will be
stored in the Outbox initially.
On starting transmission each
SMS will be picked up from
the Outbox, and then transferred
to the Sent Items. If a message
is seen in the Sent Items,
it indicates that the message
has been sent to the GSM operator
and your message is further
delivered by them. |
| |
| Does
it mean that my message has
not been delivered if the status
of the message is still at "Sent"? |
Not
at all, this means that SMS
ConneXion has not received
the confirmation of the message
delivery. In most cases during
our test cycles, we have noticed
that the message is always
delivered (100 % results)
but the delivery report is
not always received. |
| |
| Do
I need
to have my application running
to send scheduled messages? |
Yes,
the application should be
running if you want the scheduled
messages to be created at
a particular time. You may
however minimise the application
to the tray and this will
not hamper the application
from creating the scheduled
messages. The transmission
mode need not necessarily
be on for generating the schedule
messages. |
